Do you need to read Lovecraft first?
No prior reading is required to follow the adaptation, according to publisher representative Chris. Knowing the original stories may help you recognise references, but it is not essential.
Choose your reading order
For a first encounter with the mystery, play first and read afterwards. If your interest is comparing adaptations, read At the Mountains of Madness first. These are editorial suggestions: the publisher describes the game as an adaptation rather than a straight retelling. The official description also cites The Shadow Out of Time.
About cipher and Morse-code searches
We have not verified a complete in-game cipher key or a definitive transcription of the research-outpost Morse code. Do not use this reading guide as a puzzle solution. Collectible persistence is covered separately in the saving guide.
